Ahlussunna Wal-jama’a (ASWAJ) is non-political, non-partisan and non tribal but strictly religious based organization in the republic of Ghana. The organization was founded on the 23rd August, 1997. The idea was born in the wake of many religious violence in the early 1990’s when a series of meetings was held to address and to mitigate the problem. The formation of this organization is to bring about unity and create platform of consertedness to avoid any misfortune confronting the Muslim communities. Ahlussunna Wal-jama’a has been misnomerly been called by a section of the Muslim communities in Ghana and elsewhere as “Wahabibs” and Munkirs’ out of malice. Our motto is “We Stand for the Qur’an and the Hadith”.
